1) Quick Multiplication
Calculating 11: 11 is always hard to calculate after it crosses over 9. Up to 9×11: just repeat the digit (Example: 4×11 = 44).

2) Multiplying By 8
To multiply by 8 just multiply by 2 3 times.

(2 * 4) + (2 * 70) = 140 + 8 = 148

3) Solving "weird" percentage problems
Solving the uncommon percentage problems (such as 21%) may seem much more difficult, but we shall soon see how simple they really are.
Take a look at 21%. We can split it into 20%+1%, or even go further and split it into 10% + 10% + 1%.

4) Square Off
To square, a number like 14, identify the preceding round number — in this case, 10. Since you subtracted 4 to get 10, add 4 to 14 to get 18 and multiply that by 10 (*the round number). Add to that the square of 4: 180 + 16 = 196.

To find the square of the next number in a series without multiplying: Say you know the square of 12 is 144. Add 12 to 144 and add the next number — in this case, 13 — to find the square of 13: 144 + 12 = 156 + 13 = 169, the square of 13; and then, 169 + 13 = 182 + 14 = 196, etc.
5) Figure Out the Hourly Rate
Sometimes to make an apples to apples comparisons between jobs you need to compare the hourly rate of each job. For example, if you are able to work the same amount of hours, which job pays better, one with an annual salary of $58,000 or one with an hourly rate of $31?
Figure out the hourly rate of an annual salary by dropping the three zeros and dividing that number by 2. In this case, the hourly rate would be 58/2 = $29. Keeping all other things equal, the $31/hour gig pays better.
